Forest Management - Fuels Reduction
Forest Management - Fuels Reduction
Forest management focuses on managing vegetation, restoring ecosystems, reducing hazards, and maintaining forest health.
Forest management focuses on managing vegetation, restoring ecosystems, reducing hazards, and maintaining forest health.
Fuels reduction is a fire management and forest health activity that alters vegetation and changes the composition of fuels. Fuels reduction projects favor keeping larger, more fire-resistant trees, reduce or rearrange surface fuels (dead and downed vegetation), and remove ladder fuels, which can cause fire to move from the ground into the crowns of trees. The goal of fuels reduction is to change fire behavior and minimize potential negative impacts of future wildfires, by either creating conditions that mimic the role of low intensity fire that once naturally thinned the forest, or to aid firefighters in protecting communities during wildfires, or both. Healthy forests are more resilient to fire, drought, pests and disease.

We partner with Registered Professional Foresters with localized knowledge to create a project plan meeting your specific needs ensuring that all stakeholders are engaged in the planning process. As a California Timber Operator we harvest specific resources that meet the needs of the community and return all other organic materials to the land via chipping or mastication. We do so while focusing on the safety of employees and the environment.

Project Management & Grant Support
Project Management & Grant Support
Manage all aspects of the project to include identification and management of resource and permitting requirements to meet project milestones. This includes reporting to meet grant requirements and deliverables. We are knowledgeable about all aspects of the grant application and awarding process and are capable of supporting our community partners in conducting their projects with the least impact to current operations.

Sustainable Defensible Space
Sustainable Defensible Space
Sustainable Defensible Space (SDS) is the area around the home extending 100 feet from the home itself. The condition of this space is critical not only to increasing resistance of structures to wildfire loss and safeguarding firefighters’ lives but also to improving conservation values and protecting California’s natural heritage. The landscaping choices in this area provide the greatest opportunity for improved habitat conservation with its associated ecosystem benefits such as increased carbon storage, biodiversity, slope stability and water conservation. This space provides an opportunity create a low-ignition landscape capable of slowing down fire spread.

Permaculture Design
Permaculture Design
Permaculture design is basically a multi-faceted and environmentally harmonious, fully integrated method for creating designs for sustainable landscapes. The local environment of a permaculture design will be capable of supplying many essential necessities of a community efficiently and with use of principles of sustainability. In integrated design, efforts are centered on inter-connecting all elements in a system by successful alignment of the outputs of one element to the inputs of a second element with high levels of efficiency and no waste. Permaculture includes many different disciplines, such as soil science, hydrology, engineering, biology, climate, geology, geography and architecture. The permaculture designer perspective enables us to envision a broad, comprehensive view, or meta-picture of a large, interconnected network or system. This concretely translates to the design and execution of a landscape that capitalizes on safe spacing and holding of healthy organic materials by retaining moisture.

Community Partnerships
Community Partnerships
We bring together community stakeholders to pool resources and enable greater impact to risk reduction. This collaborative approach provides enables a community to leverage public resources such as state and federal grants and reduces the overall cost of the project.
